R4DS <- awesome!

If you (ahem... your kids) have a Nintendo DS (lite) then you MUST get an R4DS. It's a card that allows you to boot DS ROMs from a micro-SD card, which can hold 30+ games on it -- depending upon the size of the SD card and the size of the game.

Luckily I downloaded the ROMs for games I actually own, but there is definitely room for abuse here.

Is iTunes the next eBay?

My thought is that iTunes provides opportunities for authors/publishers to distribute their works electronically, much like those media available from eBay. I wonder which is a better deal as a buyer, versus as a seller?

There was an analysis similar to this, but comparing eBay to Yahoo Auctions to uBid. I think it indicated that uBid was better for sellers in certain categories, and eBay was better for buyers in those same categories. I can't recall which, though.

Regardless, I'm interested to see where Apple takes its iTunes business model, and if Google or Microsoft try to copy it.

Why live with regrets?

Well I don't want to live with any regrets so that's why I'm going to do X, or not do Y.

What a joke! You've just looked beyond the gift that you are.

Wiktionary defines regret as a verb "to feel sorry about some past thing, wishing it had not happened, but something else instead."

Our lives are defined by everything we've done and everything we do. We make decisions today based upon what we know at the time, buttressed with a lifetime of experience. Those who consistently make good choices could be characterized as "wise." Those who do not, may regret the decisions they've made.

I'm sure no one wants to live with any regrets. No one goes into a decision to regret it, but the fallacy here is you won't know it's a regret until you've done the thing.

Once you've decided that you cannot control the MACRO, and that God (or whomever your spiritual leader is) has a plan for you, it's best to focus on the MICRO and learn to deal with the decisions you've made, and those you are about to make.

It's who you are.

Be yourself. Love your family. Respect your friends. Encourage others.

Beware of Trojans!

Now, I'm uber-sensitive when it comes to running anti-virus programs and keeping my system up to date so vulnerabilities can be kept in check. But even I get tagged every once in a blue moon (which actually isn't that infrequent, but I digress).

Anyway, my work laptop was infected with a Trojan that resulted in hijacking my browsers (I could only go to Google, and those search results were wacked) and prohibited me from installing anything.

I messed around with the computer for 2 days until I gave-up and wiped my drive and started over with a fresh install.

Following that event, I run Spybot Search & Destroy (freely available here), and have available Malwarebytes (freely available here).

Very frustrating...
